About the Speaker:
Satadru Sen teaches South Asian history at the City University of New York. He works primarily on issues of colonialism and race, the history of punishment, and the history of childhood. He is the author of Colonial Childhoods: The Juvenile Periphery of India 185-1945, and most recently, Savagery and Colonialism in the Indian Ocean: Power, Pleasure and the Andaman Islanders.
Colloquium on the Special Issue of The Journal of Contemporary Thought
We are organizing a colloquium on 24 January 2012 from 2-5 pm based on the special Number of the Journal of Contemporary Thought, "Punctuated Renewals: Rabindranath Tagore in the 21st Century." The editor, Dr. Debashish Banerji, (Professor of Indian Studies and Dean of Academic Affairs, University of Philosophical Research, LA, USA) and some of the contributors would be present during the event.
